Council truck hits giant wind turbine blade in Merriwa collision
A council truck hit a giant wind turbine blade being transported on a NSW highway.
The crash happened at the Golden Highway and Vanaccher Street intersection in Merriwa on September 3 at 7am. Upper Hunter Shire Council is investigating the collision.
Dashcam video shows the council truck hitting the blade, which was being towed by an oversized truck. The driver honked his horn seconds before impact.
The blade completed its journey to Squadron Energy's Uungula Wind Farm near Wellington, arriving at noon. Contractors inspected it for damage.
