Maheswaran denies 'kill Elliott' message linked to Nassif work
Former Labor councillor Sharangan Maheswaran denies a 'kill Elliott' message. This message related to his work for property developer Jean Nassif.
An ICAC inquiry heard on Friday that Maheswaran received a message from lobbyist Jeremy Greenwood. The message said "We have something that will kill Elliott".
Maheswaran denied the comment related to work by his company Beckington for property developer Jean Nassif. The commission is investigating whether Liberal figures Greenwood, Charles Perrottet and Christian Ellis expected $2 million in banned donations from Nassif.
They wanted this money in exchange for damaging Elliott's career. Elliott had opposed developments by Nassif's company, Toplace.
Maheswaran was a lawyer to Nassif. He later joined Toplace as an executive in 2020.
Greenwood, Perrottet and Nassif have all denied that Nassif paid for political outcomes.
