Chef testifies she saw no misconduct at Alan Jones trial
Chef Vanessa Harcourt testified she never saw inappropriate conduct. She worked for Jones for five years.
Chef Vanessa Harcourt testified Wednesday that she saw no inappropriate conduct during her five years working for broadcaster Alan Jones. Ms Harcourt now works as head chef at NSW Parliament.
During her employment, she met various high-profile guests including athletes at Jones's Southern Highlands home. The court heard that a 17-year-old was allegedly kissed and groped without consent when the house was empty during her employment.
Jones, 85, faces 21 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching without consent involving five men between 2003 and 2020. He has pleaded not guilty.
The testimony may support his defense, though other allegations reportedly involve times when Ms Harcourt was not employed.
Why it mattersEach witness's account either strengthens the allegations against Jones or raises doubt about the complainants' credibility in this high-profile case.
AustraliaThe trial of a prominent Australian broadcaster on sexual assault charges tests how the legal system holds powerful media figures accountable.
