Man charged with reckless driving after posting video of a 3-year-old at the steering wheel unrestrained.
A man has been charged with reckless driving after video emerged showing a 3-year-old child steering a car through a Perth suburb. The toddler sat unrestrained on the man's lap as he filmed the stunt on his phone.
In the footage, the child grips the wheel while the man gives directions and the car mounts a curb. "Go straight, straight.
Up the curb, up the curb," the man says in the video posted to social media. Former WA Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan said the behaviour was among the most dangerous he has seen in decades.
WA Health Minister Matthew Swinbourn warned that a crash would likely kill or permanently injure the child. Police have opened an investigation.
