Adam Simpson walks away from North Melbourne coaching job
Two-time premiership player Adam Simpson has decided not to pursue the North Melbourne coaching role after initial discussions with club leaders.
Adam Simpson, who won two premierships as a player for North Melbourne and coached West Coast to a flag in 2018, has stepped back from the Kangaroos' coaching vacancy. The 50-year-old had talks with North's general manager Todd Viney and CEO Jennifer Watt but told SEN radio on Thursday he would not take it further.
Simpson said the decision came after reflection. Simpson acknowledged the chance to coach his former club was tempting, but realised it would not suit him.
"Once you're in, you're all in," he said, explaining his hesitation about committing fully given his history with the club and its current position. Simpson played 306 games for North, winning two premierships and a best and fairest award.
The club now continues its search for a new coach.
