Continental launches new tyre balancing on-road comfort with off-road grip
Continental's CrossContact A/T2 offers a 50:50 balance between sealed and unsealed driving.
Continental has released a new all-terrain tyre designed specifically for the Australian market. The CrossContact A/T2 splits its performance 50-50 between on-road and off-road use.
The company's previous AX6 model favoured sealed roads at 70-30. The new tyre delivers 13 per cent more off-road grip than the AX6.
It lasts 10 per cent longer and matches 95 per cent of its fuel efficiency. The CrossContact A/T2 also features thicker sidewalls and extra tread depth for rougher terrain.
Continental says it's quieter than most other all-terrain tyres, though slightly noisier than the AX6. Most Australian sizes use light-truck construction, designed for heavy-duty everyday driving on both road and gravel.
