Dance teacher faces child exploitation charges after airport arrest
A 23-year-old Canberra dance teacher was arrested at the airport and charged with possessing child exploitation material.
Border Force officers arrested David Nery, 23, at Canberra Airport on Sunday. They found child exploitation material on his mobile phone during a routine check.
Nery appeared in ACT Magistrates Court on Monday and faces two counts of possessing child exploitation material. Police searched his home.
They allegedly seized a laptop, iPad, mobile phone and two cameras. Officers are still reviewing data from the devices.
Nery has lived in Canberra since 2019 and teaches dance to children. He was granted bail with strict conditions.
He must surrender his passport, report to police three times a week, and avoid contact with anyone under 18.
