Artisanal Market revives Mundella and Margaret River yogurt
Artisanal Market has bought the brands and facilities of two collapsed WA dairy companies, restarting production by Christmas.
Mundella Foods and Margaret River Dairy Company went into liquidation in August with creditors owed millions. Local processor Artisanal Market has now bought both brands and their facilities in Perth and Margaret River for an undisclosed sum.
Production is expected to start near Margaret River before Christmas at the Metricup facility, beginning with 2 million litres of yogurt a year. Kevin Sorgiovanni, who founded Harvey Fresh, is driving the buyback and says the deal adds some value back to the WA dairy market.
The company plans to target Asian markets as well as local shelves. Mundella's original Perth factory will close due to poor condition.
