Rhys Muldoon removed as Australia Day ambassador over offensive posts
The government removed actor Rhys Muldoon as Australia Day ambassador. This was after old social media posts with slurs resurfaced.

Offensive posts on X were found. In 2014, he made a racial and homophobic slur at a critic.
In 2023, he called Liberal politician Jacinta Nampijinpa Price a Nazi collaborator. He also attacked journalist Peta Credlin.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the comments outrageous and unacceptable. Assistant Minister Patrick Gorman asked the National Australia Day Council to remove him from ambassador duties.
Muldoon was also fired from his casual Labor staffer role.
