A 24-year-old woman believed to be the baby's mother was arrested today after being released from hospital assessment. Police found the unclothed baby boy in a plastic bag inside a garbage bin at a unit block on Harrow Road, Auburn, on August 31 at 11:20am.
The body may have been there for up to 36 hours. Whether the infant was born alive remains unknown.
She is now being questioned at Auburn Police Station as inquiries continue.
