Camberwell Golf Club's president removed all four women from its general committee.
Camberwell Golf Club in Melbourne removed all four women from its general committee on Tuesday. The removal triggered a complaint and public criticism from MP Monique Ryan.
President Craig Atkins said the women had been appointed improperly through a constitutional error. Craig Atkins himself created their positions just five months earlier in April, the women claim.
The four women are Sue Thek, Jo Cohen, Julia Trafford and Michelle Trewin. They say they are filing a formal complaint against Atkins.
They warn the club is heading down a dangerous path. Ryan told The Age the decision was a very bad look.
She pointed to Victoria's Balance the Board policy, which encourages gender equality in community organisations.
