Electronic scanning devices used in Warrnambool car theft ring
Two stolen vehicles were found. CCTV footage helped police identify two suspects. They used electronic scanning devices to steal cars.
A Toyota HiLux was stolen from outside Deep Blue Resort on Monday morning. It was recovered at Staffords Road, just east of Warrnambool.
A LandCruiser was stolen from Brauer College car park on Monday. It is still missing.
The stolen vehicles were broken into and taken without using keys. Thieves appear to have used electronic scanning devices.
Security footage from a retail store and service station helped police identify two suspects from suburban Melbourne. Windows were smashed in attempted thefts across multiple Warrnambool streets.
This happened on Scott Street, Timor Street, and Raglan Parade. It occurred overnight Sunday into Monday.
Police are asking residents to check their security camera footage for suspicious people at that time.
