Andrew Johns: Knights will win grand final against all odds

Andrew Johns told his brother Matty he has no doubt Newcastle will beat Sydney on Sunday despite the Roosters being heavily favoured.

Immortal half Andrew Johns sat down with his older brother Matty on the Backstage podcast to discuss Newcastle's historic march to the grand final. Both brothers were caught shedding tears following the Knights' preliminary final victory over Penrith.

Joey admitted he never thought he'd live to see Newcastle in another decider. Matty said if the Knights win on Sunday, celebrations will eclipse the iconic scenes from their 1997 premiership.

The brothers drew parallels between current coach Justin Holbrook and the laid-back style of Michael Hagan, who won in 2001. Joey noted the Knights are doing the unthinkable without their front rowers and that heart cannot be measured.

He backed his city to defy the odds against a fully fit Roosters side. Both brothers tipped Newcastle to win, with Joey declaring he does not think they'll win, he knows they will.
