Yvonne Whear's car found in river seven months after disappearance
Police found the car of missing woman Yvonne Whear in a river near her home. She had vanished about seven months before.
Yvonne Whear, 73, was last seen on 19 February. She was buying juice and credit at a service station in Murwillumbah.
She was driving toward her hobby farm near Dungay. Police divers found her gold Ford Escape wagon in the Rous River in Dulguigan on 12 September.
This was about seven months after she vanished. The car was a short distance from her home where she had lived for 23 years.
Several personal items believed to belong to Whear were recovered from the waterlogged vehicle. The vehicle is undergoing forensic examination.
Whear herself was not found. Her family says she would never leave her animals overnight and had no reason to disappear.
Her daughter believes someone may have taken her and hidden the car.
