Liam McIntyre voices Wolverine in new Marvel game

Australian actor Liam McIntyre is known for Spartacus. He voices and motion-captures Marvel's Wolverine in the upcoming PlayStation 5 game.

Liam McIntyre has come full circle. Two decades ago, he worked as an assistant manager at EB Games.

Now his face appears on the PlayStation 5 cover of Marvel's Wolverine. McIntyre used motion capture in a Burbank studio to bring the gruff mutant to life.

He drew on his combat experience from the TV series Spartacus: Vengeance. Liam McIntyre performs Wolverine's grunts, roars and brief dialogue.

He wears a tight Lycra suit covered in reflective balls. This blends black-box theatre and blockbuster filmmaking.

McIntyre becomes the second Australian to play a starring role in a Wolverine story, following Hugh Jackman. Marvel's Wolverine promises a more grounded, violent and combat-driven experience than Insomniac Games' quippy Spider-Man series.

McIntyre handles animalistic roars and close-quarters combat scenes including confrontations with ninjas and his feral rival Sabretooth.
