One hospitalised after North Adelaide aged care facility fire

A fire broke out on the ground floor of Helping Hand aged care facility on Buxton Street in North Adelaide at 12:30pm today. Thirty-four firefighters from 12 appliances responded.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes. One person was taken to hospital with a head laceration.
Firefighters stopped the fire from spreading through the facility. However, smoke damage affected adjacent levels.
The independent living section of the building had local smoke alarms. These are not monitored by emergency services.
Multiple people called Triple Zero (000) during the blaze and were evacuated. Investigators are examining the cause.
