GAC S7 plug-in hybrid SUV heading to Australian showrooms
Chinese car maker GAC plans to launch the S7, a plug-in hybrid large SUV competing with the Kia Sorento PHEV.
GAC, a Chinese brand new to Australia, is bringing the S7 plug-in hybrid SUV to local showrooms, positioning it as a flagship model alongside its M8 people mover. Right-hand-drive production starts in late 2027, though GAC hasn't confirmed an arrival date yet.
The S7 pairs a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine with dual electric motors for all-wheel drive, backed by a 36.3kWh battery. The S7 claims 150km of electric range and up to 1020km combined.
At 4900mm long, it's closer to a Toyota Kluger than a compact SUV. Features include a 15.6-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, and driver assist tech.
GAC already sells the Aion V and Aion UT electric vehicles in Australia and the Trumpchi M8 hybrid people mover.
