A 27-year-old horse named Dane was found dead in Lovely Banks, with police uncertain whether hunters may have shot him.
Police are investigating whether hunters accidentally shot a 27-year-old horse named Dane in the Geelong suburb of Lovely Banks. Dane was last seen alive on 16 September and found collapsed the next morning in a paddock off Anakie Road.
Police believe he was shot between 7pm Wednesday and 8am Thursday. The horse's owner, a 28-year-old woman from Corio, was devastated by the loss.
It remains unclear whether the shooting was accidental or deliberate.
