Brisbane storms into preliminary final with five-goal opening burst
Lohmann, Cameron, Bailey, McCluggage and Rayner each kicked goals in the first quarter as Brisbane stormed past Adelaide.
Five Brisbane players who disappointed against Sydney last week turned the match in minutes on Saturday night. Before Adelaide had kicked a goal, all five had booted majors.
Kai Lohmann opened with a snap on the boundary. Charlie Cameron followed with a brilliant running effort despite having just four touches the previous week.
Zac Bailey, fresh off signing an eight-year contract, pounced on a Sam Draper spike into space and skirted the boundary to score. Co-captain Hugh McCluggage drilled an imperious kick from the boundary.
Cam Rayner burst into space and fired from the top of the 50-metre arc. The Lions' intensity and forward-line diversity put September rivals on notice.
