Collegians car park plan would reshape Wollongong Smith Street
Collegians leagues club seeks approval for a 243-space four-storey car park on vacant land beside its Smith Street venue.
The development application is now with Wollongong City Council. The new multi-storey car park would have access from both Smith Street and Charlotte Street.
Currently parking spreads across lots on both sides of Charlotte Street and along Smith Street itself. Consolidating all club parking on site would improve access for patrons and provide weather protection.
It also frees up the current scattered parking areas for future development. The car park would operate during club hours: 9:30am to 4am Sunday to Thursday, and 9:30am to 6am Friday and Saturday.
A traffic study says the change would generate minimal added vehicle movements, around 20 in peak hours.
