Man charged with murder after Railton assault death
A 42-year-old Tarleton man has been charged with murder after the 48-year-old victim died at Royal Hobart Hospital.
Emergency services attended a private home in Railton, south of Devonport, shortly after 8.30am on Wednesday after reports of an assault. The alleged offender left the scene but was arrested nearby soon after.
Police said the victim and offender knew each other, and there was no ongoing threat to the wider community. The 48-year-old victim died at Royal Hobart Hospital on Thursday.
The accused was charged with murder Thursday night and was set to appear in Devonport Magistrates Court.
