Man disappears in suspected shark attack at Sorrento Beach
A swimmer remains missing after a suspected shark attack off Sorrento Beach in Perth's north at 10:15am on Friday.
Emergency services responded to a suspected shark attack about 50 metres off Sorrento Beach near a groyne at the Sorrento Surf Club. The swimmer was in the water with another man, who witnessed the attack and made it to shore.
The shark is described as up to six metres long. Lifesavers raced to rescue him, but the man has not been seen since.
Police and specialist detectives arrived at the scene, with a police helicopter and water police searching the area. The beach has been closed to swimmers.
A witness said she saw blood in the water when the attack occurred.
