Man stabbed on road, attacker sentenced seven years two months
Kalani Joliffe-Cole sentenced to seven years two months for December 2022 stabbing that left victim with 16 slash wounds.
A Canberra man was driven to a remote dirt road and attacked with a knife by Kalani Joliffe-Cole, 29. The man was ordered out of the car and left bleeding on the roadside without a phone or wallet.
He suffered 16 slash wounds across his chest, back and arms. A passing motorist spotted him and called triple zero.
Another driver gave emergency first aid while paramedics rushed him to hospital. He spent two days in hospital and received a blood transfusion.
On Tuesday, Joliffe-Cole was sentenced to seven years and two months after a jury found him guilty of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm. The judge said the strangers' quick actions very likely saved his life.
