Senior Sydney Metro officials have picked Schofields in northwest Sydney. Schofields is the best location for a major transport hub.
Schofields would work as a connection point between two proposed metro lines and the existing T1 Richmond line. Documents released to parliament show the plan would link the Northwest Metro and the Western Sydney Airport Metro at Schofields.
This lets passengers change between the two metro lines and the T1 Richmond line at one point. Adding a station at Tallawong on the existing M1 line would be harder.
This would also cost more because the line would need updating. The NSW government is spending up to $40 million on the business case.
This is for a metro line from St Marys to Tallawong.
