Teen verbally attacked on Sydney bus for confronting photographer
A 13-year-old Muslim girl confronted a man on a Sydney bus. He verbally abused her, calling her a terrorist.
On Thursday afternoon, Janna was on a bus heading to Greenacre in south-west Sydney. Janna saw an older man taking photos of another schoolgirl.
Janna confronted him. The man responded with racist abuse.
The man called her a terrorist, an immigrant dog, and an immigrant mutt. The man said she did not deserve to be in Australia.
Video of the incident was shared on social media. Other children on the bus objected to his behavior.
Only one adult helped. She was a woman wearing a hijab.
NSW Police is investigating. The Islamophobia Register has recorded more than six times as many reports since October 7.
