Officer admits assaulting five-week-old child

A serving WA police officer has admitted to assaulting his five-week-old baby in Perth. Nickolas Wayne Peake, 30, appeared at Midland Magistrates court and pleaded guilty to aggravated common assault.
Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad laid charges on Sunday after the assault. The baby was taken to Perth Children's Hospital as a precaution.
Peake has been stood down from duty and was released on bail pending sentencing.
