Premiership could convince Farnworth to stay at Dolphins, says coach Woolf
Coach Kristian Woolf says winning an NRL premiership this season could convince star centre Herbie Farnworth to remain at the Dolphins.
The Dolphins face the Sydney Roosters in a preliminary final on home soil after advancing through the qualifying round. Woolf believes a premiership win would encourage Farnworth to stay at the club rather than move to the Roosters for the 2028 season.
Farnworth is widely regarded as the best centre in the NRL and proved it with a match-turning display against the Warriors. The Roosters want him to succeed James Tedesco but cannot formally negotiate until Farnworth becomes a free agent on November 1.
Woolf said contract talks have not been a distraction: the Dolphins have won eight straight games since their round 19 loss to Cronulla. The club believes winning a title together could keep the group intact.
