More than a dozen police officers raided several Oxford Street nightclubs on Saturday. This was just one day after the state government talked about the impact of June raids on the LGBTQI+ community.
Police with drug dogs searched 65 people at venues including Arq, Palms, Kinselas and Universal. Officers allegedly asked patrons to remove clothing in public.
They also questioned people about bathroom visits. The operation resulted in 28 drug detections, 12 fines and six cannabis cautions.
Patrons told police they felt scared by the large police presence. Some patrons said they now avoid Sydney for nightlife.
