Search warrant leads to child abuse material charges
A 27-year-old was charged after investigators found child abuse material on his phone and laptop.
Tasmania's Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team charged the 27-year-old Indian national following an investigation into illegal online activity. On 8 October, investigators carried out a search warrant at a Battery Point address.
A mobile phone and laptop allegedly containing child abuse material were seized. The 27-year-old appeared in Hobart Magistrates Court the same day.
He faces one count of possessing child abuse material accessed online. The maximum penalty is 15 years' imprisonment.
AFP and Tasmania Police said they will keep pursuing anyone suspected of accessing, sharing or possessing such material. Behind every image is a real victim harmed.
