Errol Gulden is playing the best football of his career after recovering from a shoulder injury early in the season. In his last three games, he has averaged 41 disposals per game.
During the Swans' qualifying final win against Brisbane, he stepped up despite five players being suspended. Gulden saw two familiar faces in the crowd: his father Ibo and 2005 Premiership captain Barry Hall, a close friend of his dad's.
At three or four years old, Hall took Gulden to drag racing at Eastern Creek. The Swans players felt like gods to him then.
Gulden's mother Bronwyn passed on the Swans passion and works as an assistant coach of the club's AFLW program. For Gulden, the Swans' culture is about sacrifice and effort for teammates.
He welcomes the extra attention opponents give him, knowing it frees up space for other Swans to play.
