Boeing 737 ceiling collapses as emergency landing follows tyre burst in Mashhad

A landing-gear tyre burst during takeoff forced an emergency landing where ceiling panels fell but no one was hurt.

A Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 had a tyre failure during takeoff from Iran's Mashhad airport on September 15. The pilot canceled the flight to Kermanshah and landed safely.

As the aircraft came down, chunks of cabin ceiling fell onto passengers. Video shows travellers gripping seats and shielding themselves from debris.

Despite the scary event, all passengers and crew got out safely. The runway shut temporarily for inspection.

Iran's Civil Aviation Organization is investigating. This is the second recent problem for the airline.

Weeks earlier, another Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 had its nose landing gear collapse on a runway.
