Man dies after rescue from Stockton Beach
A man died on Sunday after bystanders pulled three men from Stockton Beach near Newcastle and performed CPR on one.
Three men in their 20s were in trouble in the water at Stockton Beach just before 4pm on Sunday, September 20. Members of the public helped pull them out.
Bystanders found one man unresponsive and began CPR before emergency services arrived, but he could not be revived. The other two men were taken to John Hunter Hospital as a precaution.
Police have started an investigation and will prepare a report for the coroner. In a separate incident on the same day, another man in his 20s died after being pulled from the water at Saltwater Beach on the Mid North Coast.
