Warwoven aims for elite Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas double on Saturday
Warwoven seeks to join only two horses in history to win both the Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas.
Warwoven won the group 1 Golden Rose at Rosehill last month and is racing in the Caulfield Guineas on Saturday as a $2.20 favourite. Only two colts have ever won both races: The Autumn Sun in 2018 and Ole Kirk in 2020.
If Warwoven wins, it will be the first to also claim the group 2 Run To The Rose. Trainer Bjorn Baker is confident Warwoven can handle the extra 1600m distance.
Jockey Rachel King has backed Warwoven's chances. The main question is whether the rise from 1400m to 1600m will suit the colt.
Why it mattersWinning both races would cement Warwoven's stud value and place it in Australian racing history.
AustraliaThe Caulfield Guineas is a major Australian racing event, and a Warwoven victory would be a significant achievement for the local thoroughbred industry.
