John Longmire considers North Melbourne coaching job
Sydney coach John Longmire considered North Melbourne after missing out on the Tasmania job.
Longmire, 55, had ruled out coaching after missing out on the Tasmania job to Ken Hinkley. He said he wanted to focus on his business and watch his children play sport.
Journalist Damian Barrett reported on Footy Classified that Longmire is now reconsidering a return to North Melbourne, where he won a premiership as a player in 1999. Matthew Lloyd said the coaching landscape has changed.
Candidates no longer get handed jobs outright, even with Longmire and fellow 1999 Kangaroos premiership teammate Adam Simpson's credentials. Simpson has also signalled interest, telling SEN radio he is 'kicking some tyres' on the role.
The Kangaroos are reportedly looking to hire a coach suited to the modern game.
