Mystery drones force Luxembourg airport to shut down overnight
Unidentified drones caused Luxembourg airport to divert 19 flights and close for about 7 hours on Friday night.
Luxembourg's government shut the airport after staff spotted unidentified drones in airspace over Findel on Friday evening. All 19 scheduled flights were sent to other airports, and operations resumed at 1.20am.
Prime Minister Luc Frieden said the country had been watching larger drones in its airspace over recent days. Luc Frieden called it something new for Luxembourg.
The government's Interministerial Drone Assessment Unit is investigating. No details yet on where the drones came from or why they were there.
