Loosemore jailed 17 years for killing woman who rejected him, burning her home
Loosemore, 63, was found guilty of manslaughter in June after killing Maree Vermont, 60, in August 2023.
Timothy Loosemore, 63, was sentenced to 17 years on Friday for fatally assaulting Maree Vermont and then setting fire to her home in Goldie, near Melbourne. Vermont, 60, a mother of three, had told him to end their brief relationship just five days before her death in August 2023.
The Victorian Supreme Court judge said Loosemore killed her because he was angry at the rejection. Loosemore has shown no remorse and claimed to the jury that he didn't harm her or start the fire.
He will be eligible for parole after 13 years.
