Franco Cozzo's daughters reopen family furniture store three years after his death

Cozzo's daughters reopened the family's Brunswick furniture showroom. They honour their father's legacy. They keep his Sicilian baroque-style business alive.

Franco Cozzo sold furniture on TV and became a Melbourne icon. Franco Cozzo's catchphrase was "Megalo!"

Franco Cozzo's accent brought Italian-Australian voices to Australian screens. Franco Cozzo opened his first showroom in 1959.

He had sold appliances door-to-door before that. His most famous store, a three-storey building in Footscray, closed in 2018.

His daughters reopened the Brunswick shopfront over the weekend after a five-year break. Alessia said her father worried they would not continue the business.

They promised him they would bring it back. The reopening included cannoli and an Italian archway welcoming customers.

Demand for Sicilian baroque furniture remains strong.
