Woman on retail theft charges as father urges change in court

Macie McSweeney, 26, appeared in Bendigo Magistrates' Court facing 13 retail theft charges spanning two years. The stolen goods totalled about $1,645 from major stores and local shops.
In one incident, she entered a store with three others, resisted arrest when police arrived, and a co-accused punched a police officer. Methamphetamine was found on her after the altercation.
McSweeney has been homeless and her lawyer said her night in custody motivated a change. Her father attended court to support her, telling the magistrate she keeps terrible company and needs to be honest.
