16-year-old led five teenagers in stolen car chase across ACT and NSW
A 16-year-old girl drove a stolen four-wheel-drive with five teenage passengers through a police chase that crossed state borders.
A 16-year-old girl was driving a stolen Nissan four-wheel-drive with five teenage passengers when police tried to stop her for random testing at 1:45am on Monday. The vehicle did not stop on Cooma Street in Queanbeyan, prompting a pursuit through the town centre and onto the Kings Highway toward the ACT.
Police chased the Nissan back into NSW where they used road spikes to deflate its tyres. The vehicle stopped on Bungendore Road.
The driver was charged with police pursuit, driving a stolen vehicle and driving on a learner licence without supervision. She was refused bail and will appear in children's court.
The five passengers, aged 15 and 16, were charged with riding in a stolen vehicle and given conditional bail.
