Festival cancelled after email threat to venue and car fires linked to Israeli DJs booked to perform.
The Frequency Forest psytrance festival was planned for Maitland Showground this month. The festival was cancelled on Friday after police began investigating a threat.
An email sent to the venue earlier in the week asked 'Do you have enough fire precautions?'. The festival had faced escalating threats for weeks.
Five Israeli DJs were booked for sister events in Sydney and Melbourne. The promoter's BMW X7 and Mercedes were destroyed by fire outside their Melbourne home on 16 August.
Police are treating the car fires as suspicious. To protect patrons, artists and staff, the promoter removed the Israeli artists and cancelled the largest event.
Organisers said they are moving Sydney shows to several nightclubs instead.
