Fifteen-year-old dies in overnight Latrobe crash; may have been driving

A 15-year-old from Devonport died and four others were injured in a crash near Latrobe just after 11.45pm on October 1.

A Holden Rodeo ute and a Mercedes Benz collided head-on Railton Road at Latrobe last night. Police say the teenage driver of the ute may have been at the wheel when the crash occurred.

Two 14-year-old passengers in the ute were injured seriously and taken to hospitals by helicopter and ambulance. The 61-year-old driver of the Mercedes and a 60-year-old passenger received non-life-threatening injuries.

Railton Road was closed for about six hours while crash investigators gathered evidence. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
