Massie files impeachment against Hegseth over Iran war
Republican Thomas Massie filed impeachment articles against Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth over military operations in Iran.
Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican, filed a resolution to impeach Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. The articles claim Hegseth sent US forces into Iran without Congressional approval.
They also say he ordered military strikes on alleged drug trafficking boats in the Caribbean. Massie called these actions high crimes and misdemeanours.
Massie also pursued a bipartisan effort to force the release of more files from the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Speaker Mike Johnson refused to bring the articles to a vote, calling Massie's effort "a stunt".
Johnson is shutting down the House early so lawmakers can campaign. Massie spent an hour on the floor condemning Johnson's leadership and the refusal to hold the Trump administration accountable.
