Woman reported ex to police, then he killed her in retribution
Molly Ticehurst feared Daniel Billings would kill her, reported him to police in April 2024, and was murdered weeks later.
Molly Ticehurst left written notes documenting her terror. In March 2024, after Billings allegedly raped her and threatened her with a knife, she wrote: "I truly believe he will hurt me and he will not stop contacting me."
She told her mother he had threatened to "come through the window and kill her". By April, Billings allegedly escalated his threats, saying he would "come in the middle of the night and cut your head off".
On April 5, 2024, Ticehurst summoned the courage to report him to police. Billings was released on bail with a domestic violence order preventing him from contacting her.
Weeks later, she was dead. Justice Natalie Adams found he killed her in an act of "retribution" for going to police.
Billings had admitted killing their dog with a hammer the year before.
