Aussie charged with Thai teen's murder in Pattaya suitcase
An Australian man pleaded not guilty to murdering 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla in Thailand.
Simon Peter Carman, 45, was arrested in June after the teenager was reported missing in Pattaya City, a coastal town about 150km from Bangkok. Police found her body in a suitcase.
Security footage showed the girl entering a condominium with Carman. Carman was later seen leaving the building alone with a large suitcase.
Carman loaded it onto a motorbike and rode to a deserted area. He was arrested at Bangkok airport before boarding a flight to Australia.
Carman denies all charges, claiming he acted in self-defence and did not know her real age. He is also charged with two counts of indecent acts on a minor.
Bail was refused due to flight risk. A conviction for premeditated murder carries the possibility of a death penalty.
