Doctor charged with patient assault still able to practise

GP charged with rape and sexual assault; medical regulators have imposed no restrictions on his licence.

A GP has been charged with rape and sexual assault after an alleged incident with a patient at his clinic. The man attended Our Medical in Loganholme in May for a routine examination.

The man reported it to police immediately. Dr Sophara Roath, 56, has worked in Australia for more than a decade and lists sexual health among his professional interests.

Despite facing serious charges, neither Queensland nor national medical regulators have restricted his licence. He remains free to practise, though the clinic no longer accepts new appointments with him.
